Two steel-framed glass door systems from Promat UK enable natural light transmission to be maximised within buildings whilst also offering 30 or 60 minute fire protection.
The Promat PYROSEC® Door and PYROSEC® SLIMLITE Door systems have been tested to provide integrity and insulation (EI) fire resistance for 30 and 60 minutes, making them suitable for use in the majority of buildings. Both offer a strong aesthetic appeal thanks to their large vision panels, which facilitate a high level of natural light flow through buildings, and they are available in a single or double leaf configuration.
Both feature minimal stainless steel frame members, with the PYROSEC® SLIMLITE Door offering a super-slim option. Developed to provide a solution to architects and clients where clean sightlines and maximum glass area are priorities, it features 20mm frame sections.
Design flexibility is central to both door systems through their full complement of over panels and side screens that allow for clear butt joint glazing to be incorporated, along with a variety of optional fittings, including deadlocks, concealed electric latches, overhead fire door closers and surface mounted electromagnetic locks.
Being able to meet natural light transmission objectives without compromising fire safety in a single system makes these door systems an ideal choice for more sustainable buildings that are not only compliant with safety regulations, but also popular with users. Daylighting has become an increasingly important priority to reduce reliance on artificial lighting, hence helping to cut electricity use, but also for health and wellbeing benefits.
According to a North American study from 2022, 78% of employees say that access to natural light in their workplace improves their overall happiness and wellbeing. Furthermore, the survey found that an absence of natural light damages the employee experience, with over one third of employees saying that natural light is insufficient in their workspace, and 47% of employees admit they feel tired or very tired from the absence of natural light or a window at their office.
Both PYROSEC® Door and PYROSEC® SLIMLITE Door can be used in isolation or integrated with a full range of internal fixed screens. This means screens, partitions and other internal glazing elements can be designed to include glass doors with consistent styling, offering certified integrity and insulation fire ratings of up to EI60.
